TORONTO, 19 January 2010. The Canadian Association of Wound Care (CAWC) is proud to launch the CAWC Institute of Wound Management and Prevention (CAWC Institute), a new educational initiative designed to provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to improve wound management in facilities and institutions across Canada.
Offered in one-to four-day events from coast to coast to coast, the CAWC Institute provides healthcare professionals the opportunity to learn about wound management and prevention in an interconnected, interprofessional, and collaborative program that leads to better practice and improved health for patients.
There are six levels of programming, including the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC), which CAWC is offering as part of its partnership with the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. A certificate of completion is provided with each level successfully completed.
“We believe that the CAWC Institute will be able to meet your learning needs and fills gaps related to your clinical practice in wound management and prevention both today and tomorrow,” said Heather Orsted, Director of the CAWC Institute.
“The CAWC Institute responds to Canadians’ demand for a better healthcare system,” added Dr. Karen Philp, Chief Executive Officer of CAWC. “Simply put, the education provided by the CAWC Institute will create healthier Canadians.”
The CAWC, founded in 1995, is a non-profit organization of healthcare professionals, industry participants, patients and caregivers dedicated to the advancement of wound education, prevention and care in Canada. The CAWC’s objective is to promote best evidence-based practices to improve the prevention and healing of wounds in order to enhance the quality of life of affected patients.
